The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Mr. Ibrahim Magu has dislodged the insinuation that the Ilorin Zonal office of the Commission was created to witch hunt former senate president, Bukola Saraki and his allies.

He said the delay in creating the zonal office should have been protested by the good people of Kwara.

Magu stated this while speaking with journalists during his visit to the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Commission on Tuesday.

He said, “It is unfair to say EFCC zonal office was created to witch hunt Sararki. Kwara deserves the Commission Zonal office as a state capital. The good people of Kwara state should have protested why EFCC office was not brought here earlier.”

According to him, “it’s my responsibility to come and see how the office is fairing and listen to you whether you have one or two things to suggest on how we are going to run the office.

“As I go round, I make sure everybody is carried along. I think the Ilorin office is doing very well.”

He said there is no stoppage in hearing of high Kwara profile cases in the Commission’s custody.

In his words, “There is no stoppage on hearing of high profile cases in the Commission’s file, we will arraign everybody once our investigation is concluded”.

According to the EFCC boss, the anti-corruption crusade in Kwara is good, though we are not the only anti-corruption commission, as EFCC alone cannot fight corruption, we rely on you Journalists to sensitize the people about fight against Corruption.”

He noted that “this is just the beginning of anti-corruption crusade as they are going to do more extradition, and will bring back all the looters, as the fight against corruption has just started.”

On not being confirmed as Chairman of the Commission, he said “I feel good as acting Chairman of the Commission. I’m performing, am not worried, whether confirmed or not. When God say you are there, you are there,” he added.

He hinted that come 14th February this year there’s going to be a massive protest against corruption, we will involve Youths corps members all over the federation.
