The Supreme Court this afternoon affirmed Chief Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress as the duly elected governor of Imo State.
The apex court in a landmark judgement displaced Hon. Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party and gave victory in the last March governorship election to Uzodinma.
Uzodinma had come fourth in the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission. But as it turned some of the votes he garnered were cancelled.
Senator Ararume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance had come second following INEC.
Mr. Uche Nwosu, an in-law of former Governor Rochas Okorocha, who came third at the poll had earlier withdrawn his appeal against Ihedioha’s election. Meanwhile, the court had earlier invalidated his candidature.
The apex court will decide Sokoto and Kano governorship appeals on Monday, January 20.
