Ogun State Government has warned that it would not treat with kid-glove any individual or group whose activities or actions are aimed at derailing its industrialisation agenda.
The State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, gave the warning in Abeokuta at a meeting to mediate over a land dispute between Sona Group and Igbodu family from Igbesa in Ado Ota Local Government Area of the State.
According to Ashiru, the establishment of industries enhances economic stability, employment opportunities, higher standard of living, development of markets and increment in government revenue, noting that government would not hesitate to sanction any cynic whose actions could constitute a threat to its industrialization drive towards creating wealth for its citizens.
He appealed to the host communities not to be hostile to investors as their presence in the area would be of great advantage to them and the State at large, adding that no progress could be made in an atmosphere devoid of peace.
The Commissioner assured parties involved in the dispute of government’s determination to resolve the issues amicably without fear or favour, urging them to work together for the peace and progress of the State.
Speaking at the meeting, the Arokedi of Idi-Oke, Igbesaland, Oba Saheed Ifalohun Odusanya, commended the State government for its intervention, explaining that all efforts made in the past by the community to resolve the issues had proved abortive.
He called on disgruntled members of the family to let peace reign and cooperate with government to resolve the impasse.
