As the gubernatorial election draws closer in Ondo state, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has said that the commission will be neutral in the forthcoming election in the state.
At a press briefing on Thursday, September 24, at the commission’s state headquarters in Akure, the INEC boss said the commission will improve more on Ondo poll when compared to that of Edo State.
He stressed further that, sensitive materials for the election would arrive at the state through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday, September 28.
While fielding questions from journalists on how to curtail the ballot snatching syndrome capable of happening among political parties, he said, in areas where the ballot box is snatched, the votes would be automatically cancelled and declared void.
He, therefore, urged that the Chairman of the Peace Accord Committee, Alhaji Absalami Abubakar to be in the State on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, to have a peace meeting with all the stakeholders to give peace a chance.
