A security expert, Prof. Femi Odekunle has suggested ways to confront the current security challenges facing the country
Odekule, in a paper presentation at the ongoing security summit in Ibadan the Oyo state capital, stated among other things that government must ensure that the average citizens must have assurance of equity and fairness in the development of the society
He pointed out the need for government to facilitate empowerment programmes for her citizens as well as guarantee availability of social security
According to the security expert, an informed integrated security system must be worked out through collaboration with the speedy dispensation of justice on corruption cases.
Meanwhile a non- governmental organization, Crime Alert Security Network has pledged to support the Oyo State government at reducing crime to the barest minimum in the state.
The organization’s Public Relations Officer, Jumoke Akinwale, in a chat with newsmen, at the security summit, stated that provision of security was not the function of government alone, adding that all hands must be on deck in that regard.
She, however, implored the public to show more commitment to the fight against insecurity in the country adding that its security code when installed on mobile phone, help alert security agencies when in distress.
“Security is paramount to everyone and calls for attention these days and there is need for every Nigerian to be security conscious ” , she said
