Insecurity: Oyo Police Boss Calls For Synergy Between Residents, Security Agencies

Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP. Ngozi Onadeko on Tuesday called for a robust synergy among Nigerians and the security agencies to help in curbing insecurity menace in the society.

Onadeko who was represented by CSP. Usman Sharafadeen at an  Annual Sustainable Development Stakeholders Summit organized by Shafaudeen In Islam WorldWide in collaboration with Center For Religious Cooperation and Tolerance (CRCT) maintained that Nigerians homes needs re-orientation about the security agencies.

The police boss also maintained that there is need for all and sundry to support the security personnel in the country to curb the menace of insecurity battling the country.

“We need to be conscious of our immediate environment, security is a collective responsibility of all of us, we should all have a positive focus. We must fear God in whatever we are doing, anyone who fear God will not do harmful thing to his fellow men, or his immediate environment and the society at large. We must be very positive in all our endeavours.

“We must let our foundation base on fear of God, with this ,  we will not do anything harmful to our society, you will wonder that I’m talking about God, as I’m preaching, yes we must mediate, we must preach, we must consult, we must do all the needful to ensure we have maximum security in our country.

“We must be patriotic and straight-forward in all our dealings, parents should be conscious of where their children go and the kind of friends they move with. We must teach our children on the need for them to see that they are the leader of tomorrow and they must see the reason for them to prepare themselves for the future.

“The members of the public must see the reason why they need to help the security agencies, there must be a robust synergy between the members of the public and the security agencies to have a safer society, in case of emergency here are the numbers you can call for prompt action; 08034029268; 08081768614. In his keynote address, the Founder and Spiritual Head , Shafaudeen-In-Islam worldwide, Prof. Sabit Ariyo Olagoke maintained that there is need for community policing to be able to have easy breakthrough into the network of the bandits because the structural terrain of the community and the environment are very clear to the either side.

He, however, stressed that the community police must be well equipped super firepower  and funded for effectiveness.

“There must be arrangements to work together with the federal government controlled police which must be made to devoid of any form of friction or antagonism but friendly workable relation that will not compromise evil.

“Relationship of the community police must break the barrier of traditional rulers possible compromise with bandits while good and effective working relations must be with the landlords association, citizen Militia and vigilantes but must be strictly formal. The working relations must equally provide security in remote areas to capture the network of all bandits mist especially through strategic informal means that must be made to produce positive result.” Olagoke said.

Other speakers at the event are representative of  Oyo/Osun Area Custom Command,  Owolabi Idowu Kayode and the representative of Oyo State Comptroller of Immigration, Akinlabi Abdulmumin.

The duo emphasised on the need for a joint effort between the public and security agencies in tackling criminal activities such  banditry and transborder crime.
