Inter-Religious Committee and Christian Welfare Initiative (CWI) in Ona Ara Local government area of Oyo State on Monday organised intercessory prayer sessions for the progress of governor Seyi Makinde’s on going administration and his victory in the forth coming supreme Court judgement between him and the opposition party in the state.
They also prayed for the success of the administration of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi and the progress of Ona Ara local government in Ibadan the state capital.
Speaking at the inter-Denominational prayer held at Elekuro High School, Owode, Ibadan, former chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the council area, Rev’d (Dr) Okunade Adekunle (JP) said the intercessory prayers are necessary to seek victory for governor Makinde and to also seek for peace and development of Ona Ara local government.
In his prayer and exhortation, the Chief Imam of Ona Ara local government Alhaji Salawudeen Lateef described the programme as a divine measure to pray for the governor and the legislator representing the constituency Honourable Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi so as to enable them achieve more success to the state and council area.
According to him, the government of Engr Makinde is masses friendly and need prayers and the support of the people and religious body to make him achieve greater results in his administration, especially his victory at the supreme court.
” Governor Seyi Makinde since his assumption of office has embarked on laudable programmes which has brought peace and stability to the people and the state.
“In the area of education, environment and other infrastructural development, governor Makinde has done well. God will answer our prayers for him, he added.
The Liaison Officer to the state governor, Egbeda/Ona Ara constituency, Hon Adegboyega Akinlolu said the prayer was important to seek divine intervention for the governor in his quest to move the state to greater heights.
He expressed confidence and hope that God Almighty will vindicate the governor at the supreme court, just as he prayed God to grant Hon Fadeyi the grace to achieve more success in office.
CAN Chairman in the area Rev. Akinkade JP in his short sermon and prayer expressed confidence that God will answer the prayers because governor Makinde is the ordained person chosen to lead the state to greater heights.
In his speech, the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi admonished the people of Ona Ara State Constituency to move closer to God irrespective of religious background in order to allow greater development come to the area.
Hon Fadeyi who observed that the area is fast yielding to development said new things would continue to spring up by the day adding that just recently they just commissioned Access Bank bank in the area.
The lawmaker who pledged to facilitate more developmental projects to Ona Ara called on the people to forget the past and allow them move forward.
“I want suggest that this kind of prayers should be organised every year to seek the face of God Almighty for this government, our local government and the good people of our local government.”
“As you can see God has good plan for this local government and the people, that’s the reason new development are springing up by the day.
As a matter of fact, governor Makinde hails from Ona Ara Local, he is an indigene of the council, so you can see that we are lucky. Just recently we commisioned a new generation bank and more are coming. That is why we need more prayers to sustain our selves and move together.
