The Special Adviser (SA) to the president on National Assembly Matters, Senator Sulaiman Makanjuola Ajadi, has challenged state governments to be accountable on the operation of joint accounts with local governments in the state, saying that transparency and accountability would ensure high performance of local government councils.
The SA said that meaningful change and development will only come to the country when youth serve as agents of change and good governance.
Speaking at a public lecture organised by a political organization in the Kwara State chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Kwara Positive Force, Senator Ajadi said that youth population only is among factors capable of charting the way forward for the country.
The lecture, which had two separate topics, had a former commissioner in the state and delegate to the ongoing National Conference, Comrade Ben Duntoye, talking on the “Youths: Instrument for Kwara Freedom”, while the second lecturer, Alhaji Lanre Issa Onilu, delivered a topic titled, “PDP: Alternative party for Kwarans to enhance freedom”.
Also speaking, the state chairman of the party, Chief Iyiola Oyedepo, reiterated readiness of his led executive to work tirelessly for the victory of the party come 2015 both at the federal and state levels.
He also applauded the Kwara Positive Force for channelling their youthfulness to ensure unity and progress of the party, assuring that the party would support the forum.
In his speech at the event, the PDP youth leader in Kwara state Mr. Segun Olawoyin, appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the party to address the issue of ministerial slot of the state, saying the position should be given to right person that will be widely accepted by party members.
Also speaking, coordinator of a political group, Save Kwara, Mr. Ibrahem Shola Tajudeen, urged all PDP members to work for the unity of the party, saying that is the only way victory could be guaranteed come 2015 general elections.
In his speech, the chairman of the forum, Mr. Abdulrasaq Arogunmasa, thanked all PDP stalwarts in the state for their support and guidance over the success of the programme.
