President Goodluck E. Jonathan has directed High Chief Edem Duke, the Hon. Min. of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, to supervise the activities of the Federal Ministry of Information pending confirmation of a permanent minister by the National Assembly.
Details of the directive was made available to the media by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation:
“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has directed that, in addition to his duties as Honourable Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, High Chief Edem Duke is to oversee the activities of the Federal Ministry of Information until a substantive Minister is appointed for the Ministry.”
“The President’s directive followed the disengagement of Dr. Nuruddeen Muhammad, the Hon. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who was overseeing the activities of the Federal Ministry of Information, and who is now the Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State, in the April 11,2015 Governorship election.”
“Duke has since resumed as the supervising Minister of Information,” said the statement.
