President Goodluck Jonathan has sacked the Director-General of National Sports Commission, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye.
In his place, Sports Minister, Dr Tammy Danagogo, has appointed Alhassan Yakmut, a director in the NSC, in acting capacity.
Yakmut took over on Monday as the acting Director General of the commission at its head office in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Elegbeleye is an experienced politician and sports administrator. He was also at a time in the House of Representatives.
He was born in Akoko North-East, Ondo State, on October 1, 1964. He was appointed as the DG of the NSC on May 15, 2013, for a five-year tenure.
However, no official reason was given for his removal.
