Journalist, Others Shot  As Hoodlums Attack Another Warehouse in Kogi

There was pandemonium in Kogi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Secretariat, Lokoja,  when the news filtered that Mr.  Emmanuel Adeyemi of The Sun was shot by the security gunmen on Monday morning.

Adeyemi was said to be heading to NUJ Secretariat to meet with his colleagues as usually when the suspected  Security gunmen in Hilux Vehicle shot at him around Kogi State Tourism board a stone thrown to NUJ Secretariat.

Another victim of the gunshot was a middle-aged man whose name could be ascertained,  was said to arrive from Benue State to see a family member was also shot on Monday around 10am.

Western Post investigation revealed that following the successful looting of the Covid-19 Palliative  Warehouse and carting away of various food items,  the hoodlums had once again converged around Zone 8 where they claimed to have discovered another warehouse and set looting again.

Sources hinted that the security personnel were deployed to patrol the streets of Lokoja to avoid chaos in the State Capital.

However, the security personnel were allegedly shooting sporadically into to air to disperse the hoodlums.

The persistent shooting by the security agents however sent jitters to spines of the residents of the State capital as everybody scampered for safety.

The security personnel who was patrolling between the Crowder Memorial College,  NUJ and NTA Roundabout were shooting sporadically in a White Hilux and other Sienna Toyota Buses.

Sources explained that shortly after leaving NUJ gate they opened fire again and Mr. Emmanuel Adeyemi was hit by the bulletin back.

With the assistance of a good samaritans, Adeyemi and other victims were brought to NUJ clinic where they were later referred to another hospital for medical treatment.

While speaking, Adeyemi who is in stable condition  said he was shot by a security agent.

“Have just been shot now. The bullet is in my back. Please help me”, he said

The State Chairman of the Kogi State Council of NUJ, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh expressed shock over the ugly development.

Momohjimoh, however, arranged and quickly transfered the two victims to another hospital for better treatment.
