The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), has warned the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly to desist from purported plot to remove the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Nasiru Ajanah from office.

While addressing the news at Chief Magistrate Court premises in Lokoja on Monday, the State Chairman of JUSUN, Comrade Emmanuel Waniko explained that the primary agenda of Kogi State Assembly’s plenary sitting tomorrow is plot to Illegal and  forcefully to remove Justice Ajanah.

Waniko pointed out that the Union is forced to make this call at this auspicious time following the report reaching the union on clandestine moves by Governor Yahaya Bello and his directive o the speaker to disobey the subsisting order given on December 13, 2018 by High Court of Kogi State, Koto Karfe asking the House of Assembly to stay action on the on going impasse between the executive and judiciary arms of the State.

This development, the Chairman noted may not come as surprise given the governor’s penchant for stoking controversy and crisis where there is none, noting that this planned action is confirmation of that characteristic would not stand and dead on arrival.

He lamented that the Governor had pronounced on the even of House of Assembly elections that he has petitioned the NJC against the Chief Judge in November, 2018.

“We last paid in June 2018 which makes it total of 9 months today that we being owed our legitimate salaries, noting that the workers therefore upbeat that even after almost four that our courts are shut down because of the ongoing strike and the state Assembly would make itself available to further foster another crisis on the state through this proposed illegal removal of the Chief Judge .

“The executive arm of Kogi State must be told that JUSUN is resolute in our effort to right the wrongs been perpetrated in the state by Governor Yahaya Bello. The State House of Assembly steer clear of the crisis and should rather use the constitutional authority to bring sanity to the State by calling the state governor to order. Any attempt to bring the hallowed chamber of the state and Judiciary into disrepute through this glaring and obvious mis-governance in the state by illegally pronouncing the removal of Chief Judge would be stoutly resisted .

“We will use this opportunity to encourage our members and urge our judicial officers not to fall for the antics of the clearly underperforming administration of Governor Yahaya Bello. We are aware that he has been shopping for any judge that will compromise and betray the judiciary but we have confidence in your integrity which has stood Kogi State Judiciary out among other States in the country”, he noted.
