Kogi election: PDP Women Leader Reportedly Set Ablaze By Suspected Thugs

The women leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Wada Aro campaign council, Ochadamu ward of Kogi state, Mrs Acheju Abuh, has reportedly been burnt alive in her home by alleged thugs celebrating the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state’s governorship election.

The Sun newspaper reports that the incident reportedly occurred on Monday afternoon, November 18, shortly after the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the candidate of APC, Governor Yahaya Bello, had been re-elected for a second term.

The victim was said to have been locked up in her house and burnt by the jubilant thugs.

The spokesman of the Wada/Aro campaign council, Faruk Adejoh-Audu, said thugs who were shooting sporadically, arrived Abuh’s house at about 2pm and surrounded the residence.

He said they blocked every exit and escape from outside and poured petrol on the building before setting it ablaze.

Narrating the incident, the spokesperson said: “They then poured petrol on the building and set it ablaze as other terrorized villagers watched from hiding.

She reportedly attempted to escape through a window but was prevented by the metal burglary proof and gunshots with bullets raining in her direction.

“The blood-thirsty thugs waited, shooting and watching with relish while Mrs Abuh cried from inside the inferno until her voice died out”.
