As part of efforts to provide adequate security for the people of Kogi State, the State Government has approved the recruitment of additional 500 vigilante to protect boarder areas in the state.
The controller of state vigilante service ,Retired Col. Hassan Aliu who disclosed this while speaking chat in Lokoja, said the decision is to beef up security in the state particularly ahead of 2019 general elections.
Aliu explained that those recruited would be dispatched to Omala, Olamaboro, Bassa, and other areas that boarder the state,assuring that they would work in collaboration with other security outfits on the intelligence gathering and prevention of crime.
The vigilante boss expressed appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello for placing priority on security which according to him has yielded positive results.
The controller also urged the citizens of the state to be law abiding and avoid issues that could lead to communal clashes,saying “the protection of lives and property is crucial to development of the state.”
