As the Kogi State governorship election on November 16th gathers momentum, the Director-General, All Progressive Congress (APC), Bello /Onoja Campaign Council, Senator Smart Adeyemi has admonished the main opposition party in the state, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to concede defeat following their alleged inability to commence campaign.

Speaking with journalists in Lokoja yesterday, Adeyemi stated that the deafening silence in the camp of PDP meant that either they don’t have any message to the people or planning mayhem during the election or better still it could mean that they simply have no means to embark on a campaign.

The former federal lawmaker explained that as a result of their failure, they should just concede defeat and join Governor Bello in the task of rebuilding the state chattered by their 17 years of their misrule.

Adeyemi added that they may also be afraid of the likely outcome of the litigation arising from the inconclusive primary that produced  Musa Wada as the Party’s flag bearer.

The campaign has officially started but we can’t find them anywhere, no billboard, no poster , no mobilization of any kind by PDP. It is either they have hidden agenda, planning mayhem or they don’t just have anything to say to the people. They may also be ashamed of their past misgovernance of over 17 years.

Help us to look for them or advise them to withdraw from the race”, he stressed.

He said APC has started mobilizing the people because it has a lot to tell the people.

He gave the ternary of APC campaign programme which he said will commence in earnest on Monday.

“As for APC, we are hitting the ground running in terms of campaigns to all the nook and crannies of the state and even beyond to other States including Lagos and Abuja and the North to sensitise indigenes of the state and present our achievement in the last four year and programmes for the future, ” he said.

He said that APC will make the campaign ‘issue-based’ devoid of violence of any form.

He, however, warned the opposition to call their members to order, avoid violence because Governor Bello, APC candidate abhors violence of any kind.

However in a swift reaction, the State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Bode Ogunmola said that PDP is at the grass root moving from house to house.

He said that PDP will teach Smart Adeyemi and his likes a lesson that they have never learned before come Nov 16.

“Let them share all the money in their vault, the people know what they want. They have rejected this government and they should start writing their hand over notes. No amount of propaganda can save them now because Kogi people are wiser , and better informed,” Ogunmola added.

Also reacting, the Director-General Media and Publicity PDP /WadaAro Campaign Organisation Farouk Adejoh stated that  as usual Senator  Adeyemi suffers from an admixture of ignorance and arrogance.

Adejoh pointed out that the window for Campaign in the INEC timetable opened just last weekend.  Even his own party hasn’t officially flagged off any campaigns against the INEC timetable.

“Smart Adeyemi knows that his Bello is the most unpopular politician to have ever come on the ballot and they know that outside arming thugs and depending on using crooks and rogues within the system, particularly in INEC to manipulate the system, their candidate won’t get 20%of the votes.

I invite The Punch to conduct an opinion poll among voters in Kogi State to verify my position.

“We are flagging off our campaign next week but that honesty is to fulfill political tradition. Bello’s only legacy in Kogi is hunger, poverty and violence. No single project commenced, completed and commissioned by Bello despite receiving over N400 billion in income in four years. That is enough Campaign for us”,he said.
