Worried by the level of poverty raging homes in Kogi State, the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) has described the State as the Nigeria’s headquarters of poverty and graveyard.
This was contained in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Bode Ogunmola ,copy of which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja , stated that are groaning under starvation and hunger in the State
The statement signed which read thus,”The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has agreed with the submission made by one of the latest entrance into the governorship race, Alhaji Yakubu Mohammed that the state deserves a better Governor.”
“Reacting, the PDP in the state through it’s spokesman, Bode Ogunmola, remarked that the aspirant was merely re-echoing the long held position of the PDP on Governor Yahaya Bello.
“The PDP said the state under Bello is not only Nigeria’s poverty headquarters, but a graveyard where people are being driven to untimely deaths in droves.
“It said findings in the hospitals have confirmed that many people in the state especially civil servants are battling severe cases of hypertension due to the inhuman treatment being meted on them by Bello’s administration.
“The Party said that it would be glad if Bello emerges the guber candidate of the
All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that it would make the election an easy win for the PDP.
“Bello, the statement added has incurred the wrath of God and the people of the state, saying that, he has abused an opportunity to serve humanity in his quest to amass wealth.
“According to the party, while Bello continues to justify that the state is broke, his lifestyle and those of his close aides does not reflect that.
“They keep buying and building houses across Nigeria and yet, they want the electorate to believe their story of the state being broke.
“Go see his mother’s house in Okene and see what he turned the once ramshackle building into. Go round and see his wives palatial buildings in Abuja and you want us to believe that state resources are not being looted”, the party queried.
“It further submitted that if Bello was that rich before he became Governor, why did he not fix the structures or build the houses he is now building or ride the exotic cars he now rides.
“Kogi, the party reiterated has been put in very wrong hands, adding that there was the need for a collaborative effort to safe the state from the hands of those who do not mean well for the state and its people.
“It urged the electorate to resist an attempt to foist them into another four years of slavery, assuring that the PDP remains the best choice for them.
