A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Honourable Kabiru Yusuf has warned the leadership of the Party to guard against the imposition of candidates on the party ahead of 2019 elections, saying would have negative effects.
Yusuf who gave the warming on Saturday while addressing press men in Lokoja over the planned attempt to impose or give automatic tickets to some National Assembly Members from the State.
The Former Secretary to Lokoja Local Government Council has berated the National Chairman of the party at his attempt to test the will of Kogi people, warning that the loss the party would experience if such actions are taken would be unimaginable.
Yusuf also warned the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, not to cross his bound at the planned to impose candidates on the party in Kogi state, maintaining that this is not the time for such impunity.
He admonished the leadership of PDP to give all aspirants a level playing field to take part in the party’s primaries, noting that any attempt at imposing candidates on the party, would amount to pouring fuel on an existing flame.
Yusuf lamented that a situation in which the party is just overcoming it challenges occasioned by persons who left the party, but now to choose to return would now given automatic ticket to such persons as another disaster waiting to happen if such action is taken by the National leadership of the PDP.
He therefore called for a level playing ground for all aspirants without any undue interference by the National leadership of the party and that of the Senate as is been alleged, warned that such action would only go to portray the party as one that has not learnt it lesson, and impugn on the capacity of the National Leadership.
The former Council Scribe maintained that the PDP may be heading for a total extinction in Kogi State if the planned action by the National leadership of the PDP scales through, called for a rethink before it is too late.
