The Chairman of Ijumu traditional Council of Ijumu, Oba  Williams Olusegun Ayeni has admonished the  Youths in the State  not to allow themselves to be used as thugs during the forthcoming governorship election

The monarch who gave this admonition while speaking during the 2019 Ijumu Day celebrations in Iyara , headquarters of Ijumu Local government at the weekend .

Oba Ayeni pointed out that this election is not worth the life of any Ijumu son and daughter, warning the parents to talk their wards to avoid being used to perpetrate violence before, during and after the election.

“I appeal to you all, to give room for a free, credible and peaceful election. Once again, this election does not worth the blood of anybody. The youths must avoid been used to perpetrate violence as anyone caught will face the wrath of the law.

“My unreserved appreciation goes to President Muhammdu Buhari, GCFR for the appointment of our beloved daughter, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan from Ikoyi as the acting Head of Service of the Federation by President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.

The traditional ruler also urged the sons and daughters of Ijumuland to unite together for the overall development of land and invest land for their children because this place they can call their own.

“There is no doubt in the fact that we have allowed politics to divide us. Some selfish politicians have divided us which is not ought to be.

“We must see ourselves as one and have a change of attitude as our sons and daughters who are well-to-do must come back home to invest in our Jerusalem, Ijumu. Let us remember that the Ijumu you refuse to contribute to developing today is where your children and grandchildren belong.

“We commend the State Government ably led by His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for approving the recent upgrading of two traditional stools, that is Ologidi and Olu Adde Stools. Although we had made our position known that Ijumu was not well treated, efforts are being made to ensure the grading of Olu of Odokoro stool, that of Olu Ayeh as well as upgrading of Obaro of Iyamoye, Eleta of Iyara, Obaro of Egbeda Egga, Olukoyi of Okoro Gbede among others from 3rd class to 2nd class status. We hope at this injustice will be corrected soon,” he stressed.
