Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has disclosed that it is ready to conduct Local Government (LG) election on December 12th, 2020 in State.
The Chairman of KOSIEC, Mamman Nda Eri disclosed this while speaking at a stakeholder meeting held in Lokoja on Wednesday.
He said that the State Electoral body was ready to conduct a free fair and credible council election in-line with its constitutional responsibility.
Eri explained that the members of the State Independent Electoral Commission have worked assiduously to put in place all necessary measures that could translate to the successful conduct of this important assignment.
According to him, time table has already commenced with meeting with stakeholders and notice of election on 12th December 2020, stressing that on 14 September there would be sensitization tour of the 21 local government areas of Kogi State.
While 24 Sept -2nd October was fixed for the collection of forms by the aspirants to from their various political parties.
The SIEC has also fixed 6th October for the conduct of party primaries including disputes arising from the primaries.
The SIEC Chairman noted that all forms are expected to submitted at Headquarters on 19th October, while verification and documentation follow between 27th Oct -3rd November 2020.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Ede has assured the people of the state of adequate security, before, during and after local government election.
Ede admonished the stakeholders, politicians, political parties, Chairmanship aspirants, Cancellorship aspirants and party supporters to about their activities in a peaceful manner without any rancur.
