The Executive Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KSIRS) and All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant for Kogi Central Senatorial District seat at National Assembly, Alhaji Yakubu Oseni has disclosed that he joined politics to impact positively on the people of district.
Oseni who made this known while speaking in a chat with Journalists at NUJ press centre in Lokoja on Sunday, stated that the Central senatorial district has suffered poor representation in the past, stressing that this has informed him of the decision to bye for Senatorial seat ticket.
The revenue expert noted that he has what it takes to represent Central Senatorial district at National Assembly ,pointing out since the beginning of this political dispensation no quality representation has been made and there is noting to show for it.
“Having served at National Assembly, worked as banker and rose to position of a manager and ability to raise the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service to an enviable position within the shortest period. The sky would be the limit as senator to serve my people to the best of my knowledge and antecedents”, he said.
Oseni lamented that the incumbent senator representing Kogi central has not done anything to attract Federal presence to his constituency nor has done anything to ameliorate the suffering of the constituents back home.
According him, youths and women empowerment, engagement and constituency project are the key areas of my primary concerned, I know what people have done with constituency projects, but there is absolute nothing to point to in Kogi Central today.
He explained that having excelled at various strata of public service and look saturated ,he motivated by the clarion calls by people to join the race for Kogi Central senatorial seat.
“I am vying for the position of Kogi Central senatorial seat to represent the good people Ebiraland. I have the confidence that I will pick the ticket of my part, the All Progressives Congress APC. I am also ready to face anybody. There is no newcomer in politics.
“I have been tested and trusted, while the incumbent has been tested and not trusted and that is why the youths and women are calling on me to serve them as senator in Kogi Central Senator District come 2019”, he stressed.
On issue of thuggery and insecurity, the senatorial aspirant reiterated his commitment to continue to complement the efforts the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in this regard, adding that government is not resting on it oars on security issues in the state.
The APC stalwart posited that if given the opportunity serve, he will take youths out of the street through his youths empowerment programme.
