The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Thursday inaugurated the Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) chairmen for Ilorin South and Patigi Local Government Areas.
He charged them to stabilise their local government areas and ensure accountability in the management of funds.
The chairmen inaugurated on Thursday are Gambari Zubair, Ilorin South and Mohammed Liman, Patigi Local Government Area.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, noted that the local government is the closest tier to the people, adding that with a well-structured Local Government Administration, overall development of the grassroots can be achieved through the provision of basic needs.
He said the administration is committed to bringing about development, creating jobs and reducing poverty.
Mallam AbdulRazaq reassured the state government’s support and cooperation within the limits of available resources and constitutional provisions.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Alabere, stated that the inauguration was to fill the vacuum created with the expiration of the suspended council’s tenure.
Also present at the inauguration were the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Mamman Saba Jubril, State Head of Service, Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, party stalwarts, among others.
