The Chairman, Kwara State Chapter of Nigerian Medical Association,(NMA), Dr. Kolade Solagberu has said that all members of the association affected with COVID-19 have tested negative and discharged.
Solagberu made this disclosure on Tuesday reacting to reports that about 35 Kwara NMA members contacted the novel coronavirus.
According to him, all the Kwara NMA members infected have recovered and discharged home after two negative results.
He said the outbreak of coronavirus has its effects on the nation which doesn’t spare the Association.
“No Doctor is neither infected now nor being in isolation Center. I want to appreciates the Kwara state government for the efforts so far in fighting Covid-19,” he said
He said that the news that sick people should avoid hospitals is not correct as the Association only discourage people from visiting the sick people in the hospital now to avoid unnecessary crowding and maintaining physical distancing as well as encouraging use of face mask and hand sanitizer.
“I want to use this medium to appreciate the Kwara state government under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq for his efforts, steps, and decisions at combatting COVID-19. This is no doubt has helped in the fight against the virus as evidenced by statistics.
“We also commiserate with the Executive Governor of Kwara state over the loss of his chief of Staff Aminu Adisa Logun, a seasoned administrator, we pray God Almighty give the HE and the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear this great loss” he added.
