Kwara State House of Assembly has urged the State Governor, Mallam Abdurazaq Abdulrahman to relieve the General Manager of Kwara State Television Authority of his post.

This followed the recommendation of the House Committee on Youths, Sports, Culture, Tourism and Information, on a petition by some of the staff of the station.

The Committee in it’s findings observed that the General Manager is culpable of diversion of the station’s property for personal use, illegal sales of land belonging to the station, sexual harrassment, unethical practices among others as alleged by the petitioners.

In the same vein, the legislature has called on the State Government to as a matter of urgency direct the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to ensure Flower Garden Park, Ilorin is put into proper use.

This is sequel to to a matter of General Public Importance on “the need to put flower garden to proper use” raised by Hon Saheed Adekeye Popoola ( Ojomu/ Balogun)

While speaking on the matter, the Lawmaker representing Ojomu/Balogun constituency of Offa Local Government said the garden which was meant to be a recreation park has been reduced to a den where evils are being perpetrated as men of the underworld have taken over the park posing security threats to the neighbouring communities.

Other Honorable Members that spoke on the matter said the park, if properly positioned can be a good source of revenue generation for the State.

Reading the Resolutions, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Yakubu Danladi Salihu, urged the security Agencies in the state to mount constant surveillance around the area to wipe out miscreants in the park and make it a crime free zone.
