The Kwara state government has expressed readiness to support Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to revamp the economy of the state especially now that the whole world is diversifying from dependence on oil revenue as a result of dwindling oil prices to other viable sectors like Agriculture and tourism.
The Commissioner for Communication Mrs. Adenike Afolabi-Oshatimehin made this known at a post- COVID-19 webinar on the potential of breaking new grounds using Tourism as a growth driver, held in Ilorin on Wednesday.
She said it is her hope that the Webinar would be a starting point to break new grounds to enhance Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), job opportunities for the youths, community development as a product of Tourism which must be preserved and promoted for social-economic significance.
The Commissioner commended Bond Integrated Estate Limited for initiating the Webinar to chart a course, going forward for the tourism industry in Kwara state.
“This could not have come at a better time than now when the novel pandemic COVID-19 has significantly impaired activities of both the private and public sectors hence, the need to develop a sustainable post-COVID-19 solution to harness the tourism potential in the state,” she said.
