The Oyo State Labour Party(LP) has strongly condemned the mayhem that attended the All Progressives Congress led government rally in Ibadan on Friday, saying it was a sign of more dangers ahead towards the 2015 general elections.
This was contained in a release signed by the party’s Director of Media and Publicity in the state, Hon. Taiwo Ibrahim and made available to journalists in Ibadan at the weekend, describing the incident as barbaric, uncivilized and reckless of a party that has been boasting around of maintaining peace and order in the state.
The party stressed that it has become the order of the day for APC in recent times to engage in clashes of intra-party rivalry leading to acts of brigandage, arson and thuggery.
“In the last few days, rival groups within the same party have been subjecting the state to terror leading to the death of innocent citizens, just last week, two of its lawmakers were alleged to have brought such untold hardship to the people as a result of their thuggery.
And this last Friday, their principal Sen. Abiola Ajimobi’s jamboree baptized the State with another pool of blood.”
The Labour Party however warned people of the state to be watchful as they approach the 2015 elections.
The party called on well meaning people of the state to call the APC to order before the party finally set the state on fire.
“We sympathize with innocent citizens including police officers who were only doing their duties, who lost their lives as a result,” the release added.
