Ladoja Wrongly Advised by Lawyers, Says Ajimobi’s Aide

By Adeola Oladele, Ibadan

Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Political Matters, Dr Gbade Ojo, has said Senator Rasidi Ladoja, the governorship candidate of Accord in the just-concluded elections in the state, was wrongly advised by his lawyers to go to tribunal to seek redress for his elusive justice, instead of accepting the fate for his loss at the governorship poll in the state.

Dr Ojo, who spoke with WESTERN POST in his office in Ibadan, said, Senator Ladoja was wrongly advised by his lawyers, explaining, “He should have accepted he lost in the election and conceded defeat like others have done but I still commend him for going to the tribunal instead of resorting to jungle justice by inciting his supporters  to violence. That is the joy of democracy.”

The Special Adviser who is a Senior Lecturer in Political Science at the University of Ilorin observed that Ladoja went to the court because of the coming local government elections, assuring the people of the state that he would lose at the tribunal as it happened during the polls.

“When you study the pattern of the election results, you will notice its uniqueness. The card readers made it impossible for anybody to carry out any electoral malpractice,” he noted.

“That was why Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala and Senator Teslim Folarin of Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party respectively quickly congratulated Governor Ajimobi immediately after the collation exercise because they were convinced that it was free and fair,” the adviser stated.

Ojo wondered why Ladoja whose party did not win any seat at the National Assembly instructed Accord party agents not to sign the necessary forms  after the collation of results,  adding that “Accord Party is limited to Ibadan and it lacks the mandatory spread expected of a national party.”

He denied knowledge of any negotiation with All Progressives Congress chieftains to persuade Accord candidates to withdraw their petitions, stressing that no such has happened because “APC won convincingly at the polls.”

The special Adviser thanked the people of Oyo State for considering the achievements of Ajimobi’s administration and voting for him overwhelmingly, adding that the governor would justify the confidence reposed in APC by the electorate.
