Where did this rumour that former Lagos State governor and APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has pacified his successor, Governor Raji Babatunde Fashola, over the matter of succession in the state emanate from? The rumour-mongers had said that in order to pacify Fashola and pave the ground for Asiwaju Tinubu’s choice as Fashola’s successor, that is Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, the governor would either be given a senatorial slot or get a position in APC’s presidential ticket, perhaps as running mate. The latter, it was clear, was wishful thinking because we can all hazard a guess that the APC presidential candidate would most likely be a Northerner and a Muslim. If that is so, there is no room for Fashola, who is also a Muslim, as the party seems to have ruled out a Muslim-Muslim ticket. Again, does Tinubu trust Fashola well enough again as to want to push him forward as a presidential running mate? With respect to the other leg of the rumour, it was even said that Tinubu’s wife, Senator Oluremi, had choosen to offer his seat if that’s what it would require for Fashola to back Ambode for governorship. However, that was laid to rest on Monday when Senator Tinubu submitted her Expression of Interest form to return to the Senate in 2015 to Lagos APC chapter. On hand to collect the form at the APC Secretariat, Ogba were APC Chairman in the state, Chief Henry Ajomale, and party chieftains like Alhaji Mutiu Are and Mr Fuad Oki.
In the meantime, Fashola’s annointed candidate for Lagos governorship and his former Attorney –General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Supo Sashore, also remains in the race. He too collected and returned Expression of Interest form for the governorship on APC platform.
