The All Progressives Congress, APC, Lagos State chapter, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to come to the rescue of the candidates on the platform of the party whose campaign posters and billboards are being destroyed across the state.
In an emergency press conference called by the party at its state secretariat, the party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said the Peoples Democratic Party is deliberately sponsoring the vandalisation of the party’s publicity in order to provoke its members.
“The provocative vandalisation of our campaign posters is sponsored by the PDP,” he said.
He added that “the PDP has thrown decorum to the dogs in destruction of campaign posters,” which he alleged were carried out at “several locations in the state including Gbagada and Osborne, Ikoyi.”
He, therefore, called on the appropriate authorities, especially the NPF, to arrest the situation with immediate effect in order to avoid any outbreak of violence from its members.
“We call on the police to stop this brigandage,” he said. “Because we would react if pushed to the world. Out of desperation the PDP is trying to make sure it doesn’t go down without a fight. No standing army anywhere in the world has the capacity to crush the decency of the human spirit. No body can crush an idea whose time has come.”
He concluded his remarks by taking a jibe at the ruling party for the postponement of the general elections: “Out of fear of crushing and debilitating defeat, the PDP postpone elections.”
