Lagos Assembly Commences Audit Of LGs



Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account (Local) has commenced the auditing of the 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas, (LCDAs) in the State.

According to the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Mojeed Fatai, the Committee would go through the 2019 report of the Auditor General, adding that any local council indicted in the report would be sanctioned without fear or favour.

Fatai said that the Committee has power to summon any person to give evidence at any place or produce any document or other things in his possession or under his control.

The Chairman added that the Committee would carry out the exercise without bias and in conformity with the standard best practices.

He said that letters had been sent to all the 20 LGAs and 37 LCDAs and are expected to come with copies of approved budget for Y2017 and Y2020, analysis of payment made to non pensionable staff in Y2017-Y2019.

The exercise is expected to run through a week including Saturday and the Committee is expected to submit its report on the floor of the House later in the month.
