The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday sworn-in a new member of the House, Hon. Saheed Wasiu Obafemi from Kosofe Constituency 2.
Oaths of allegiance and membership were administered on Hon. Saheed Wasiu Obafemi by the Head of the Legal Department of the Assembly.
It will be recalled that Hon. Saheed was elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a by-election held on Saturday 5th December, 2020.
Saheed won the election with a total vote of 12,434 while his close rival, Hon. Sikiru Alebiosu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) scored 2068 votes in total.
The bye-election was conducted due to the death of Hon. Tunde Braimoh who represented the constituency in the Lagos state House of Assembly till mid of this year.
It is right to point that the bye-election took place peacefully in 397 polling units of the constituency with 280,363 registered voters.
While congratulating the new lawmaker, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa urged him to collaborate and cooperate with other members of the House and that he could get clarification from the office of the Speaker or that of the Clerk if he is not clear over any issue.
