Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have threatened to impeach the Executive Governor of the State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, over the spending of the 2019 budget without laying it before the Assembly.

The lawmakers made the threat at the plenary session today at the Assembly Complex in Ikeja, Lagos.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, who initiated the debate on Ambode’s alleged misconducts , explained that the executive arm had commenced the implementation of 2019 budget which is yet to be laid before the House.

Eshinlokun-Sanni stated that warrants for spending of the proposed budget had been issued on both recurrent and capital expenditures, saying that the governor had committed an impeachable offence.
