Lagos Lawmaker Splashes Prizes On Winners of ”Eleniyan Spelling Competition’

In his effort to encourage school pupils in Epe Constituency 2, the legislator representing the Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Segun Olulade, has doled out various prizes to winners of this year edition of the “Eleniyan Spelling Competition”.

The spelling competition, which was organised under the umbrella of “Eleniyan Ambassadors”, had in attendance 354 pupils across all public Primary schools in Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA and Eredo LCDA.

Speaking to journalists at the event, Hon. Olulade explained the reasons for funding and organising the yearly programme, saying that it was to give back to the society that made him.

The Lawmaker stressed that the spelling competition was to create healthy competition among the pupils , stressing further that it would be an avenue to grow talents and brilliant students.

Olulade stated further that he was moved to organise the programme so as to help parents who could not afford the cost of education, saying that it was not to propagate any political interest.

He added ” I was once in these pupils shoe when I was young. This programme would go a long way in encouraging them to learn more and as well face their studies. It is purely for the less privileged. I advise them to continue to face their studies and emulate good mentors”

Olulade stressed”This has always been my yearly programme to catch them young and to brand them as Eleniyan Ambassadors in my Constituency. You can see that the Winners went home with surprise prizes, all these are to encourage the Winners and to work hard to succeed in life”

While presenting the prize to the overall winner, Amb. Azizat Babatunde, the Wife of a Former Governor of Lagos State, Late Michael Otedola, Lady Doha Otedola, advised  the pupils to continue to concentrate on their studies, saying that it would help them in getting to greater heights in life.

Otedola urged the winners not to be involved in any social vices as it would distract them in achieving their goals in life, eulogising the Lawmaker for organising the competition among the pupils in the Constituency.The overall winner, Amb Azizat Babatunde, who went home with fridge, advised her colleagues to intensify more effort and avoid distractions in all ways.

Babatunde was adopted into the Doja Otedola Educational Adoption Programme under which she would be sponsored throughout her tertiary education.

Other winners went home with plasma TV and cash.

Present at the event were Executive Chairman, Eredo LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Solid, Executive Chairman, Ikosi-Ejirin  LCDA, Hon. Onanuga, Film maker and Actress, Sola Kosoko, and the traditional rulers in the Constituency.
