As local government elections draws nearer in Lagos, the governing party in the state, All Progressives Congress (APC) has set up Screening and Screening Appeal Committees to screen and attend to appeals from aggrieved aspirants.
The chairman of the screening appeal committee is a former Deputy Governor of the state, Otunba Femi Pedro, while members are Barr. Fola Sade Bakare (Secretary), Hon. Sejoro James, Hon Rasaq Balogun and Barr. Dele Oloke.
Also, the chairman of the screening committee is Prof. Abayomi Durosinmi Etti, while members are Mr. Babatunde Ogala (Vice Chairman), Hon. Adetoun Adediran (Secretary), Prof. Adeniyi Harrisson and Honorable Oyinlomo Danmole.
While addressing the Committees, the State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, expressed delight at the quality of the membership of the two committees who were eminent Nigerians across various sectors.
He admonished them to deliver on their assignments with diligence and integrity to ensure the emergence of credible flag-bearers for the party in the coming elections.
He commended the aspirants for the tremendous response to serve at the grassroots as underscored by the total of 250 chairmanship and 800 councilorship aspirants.
However, Durosinmi Etti, in his acceptance speech, expressed his delight to be invited to serve and contribute his quota to the growth of democracy in Nigeria.
Durosimi-Etti assured of the readiness of his committee to deliver on the assignment.
Also, Pedro appreciated the opportunity to avail the party of his experience and assured on the honorable execution of their duties.
Recall that the party recently set up a 15-man committee to set the modalities and preparation of guidelines for the forthcoming local government elections.
The committee was headed by the Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and has the state secretary of the party as the scribe.
Other members of the committee were the former deputy governor of the state, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, Mr. Ademola Sadiq- the state legal adviser, Hon. Adewale Oshun, Hon. Daramola Abayomi, Alh. Ganiyu Sadiq, Mr. Ademola Olisa, Mr. Fatai Lasisi, Mr. Adebiyi Kehinde, Mr. Olabode Olaniyan, Mr. S. A. Sekoni, Mr. Tunde Lawal and Mr. Gani Bello.
