The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Agege Local Government, Mr Sola Osolana, on Saturday accused officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC of conniving with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa to rig the council elections n favour of the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Ganiu Egunjobi.

Osolana alleged that LASIEC ad hoc staff under the influence of the Speaker tampered with the card readers to manipulate the votes to favour the APC candidate.

Speaking with journalists after casting his vote, Osolana said,: “I voted at around 11am and at the beginning of the exercise, the turnout was low but later people started coming out. In all, the turnout was impressive but there were reports of electoral officials not arriving on time.

“In some polling units, they were absent for the exercise. The speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa is doing everything within his powers to manipulate the process.

“The RRS is working with the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Speaker of LSHA to intimate voters. Just yesterday he had a meeting with them at a hotel. It was after the meeting the RRS raided my hotel and arrested 14 guests despite the fact that there was neither an election nor a polling unit in my hotel.

“What they want to do is to demoralize me and show strength of force. They drove armoured tank and patrol vehicles around Agege to intimate voters.

“In some polling units, the card readers do not function and LASIEC officials were also seen manipulating the process in favour of the ruling party.

“The number three citizen is from Agege and he is doing everything within his power to rig this election but the people are bent on doing the right thing by voting for me.

“My intention for running is to liberate Agege local government and my focus, if elected, will be on education, security and empowerment of youths and women in Agege local government.A whole ballot paper got missing while moving it from LASIEC office to Agege.”
