Lagos State monarch, Oba Yushau Oseni, of Iba Town has regained his freedom after about a month in captivity.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, confirmed the release of Oseni, the Oniba of Iba on Saturday.
Owoseni said the traditional ruler was released on Saturday.
He claimed the leader of the kidnapping group, Duba, was also arrested by the police in the process of rescuing the monarch.
The kidnappers had arrested Oba Oseni in his palace about a month ago shortly after he retired to his bedroom with one of his wives.
One of his guards was killed while one of his wife was also injured.
The kidnappers had demanded N500 million to release the monarch. Unable to raise the money, his family had appealed to the Lagos State Government for assistance.
Initial report last week that the monarch had been released was refuted by one of his sons who said his father was still been held by his abductors.
Other details of the rescue of the monarch will be released on Sunday, according to the police..
