Lagos State NURTW Chair, MC Oluomo, Marks 1 Year of Surviving Assassination Attempt

The Lagos State National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Chairman, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (Mc Oluomo), is today celebrating one year of escaping death at the state All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally at GRA Ikeja.

This time last year, January 8, was billed as a Lagos APC campaign flag-off, with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode expected to reel out his achievements and state why he thinks Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos APC governorship flagbearer, is the best man to succeed him in May.

But it turned out the day MC Oluomo got stabbed in the neck by some hoodlums said to be rival NURTW members. He was rushed to a hospital as he bled profusely, battling for his life.

In a post on his Instagram handle titled, “A GLIMPSE INTO THE LAND OF THE DEAD,” the Lagos State NURTW Chairman thanked God for sustaining him, calling everyone to love one another and avoid violence at all cost.

Read the post below:

There are no words that can possibly express my profound thanks to Almighty Allah for making me a living a soul today.

Today, January 8, 2020 makes it exactly one year that I was stabbed with a poisonous object. The wielder of the object and his cohorts had only one motive and that was to murder me in cold blood.

Their nefarious plans almost succeeded but for the grace of God and the timely intervention of people with a good heart. I indeed had a glimpse into the land of the dead before I was recalled.

Looking back at that fateful day and the subsequent happenings that followed, I cannot but appreciate a man of many parts that has genuinely taken me as a son. I am referring to no other person than His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. My appreciation also goes to the entire members of Lagos State House of Assembly, APC Lagos State Executives and entire party members.

I appreciate the doctors and entire staff of Eko Hospital for their prompt response and professional conduct, Nigerian law Enforcement Agencies for swiftly going after the perpetrators. My gratitude will not be complete without appreciating entire Nigerians both home and abroad for their relentless prayers and support. If words could be transformed to a hug, I would send you loads of them.

Reminiscing at the events before and after the incident, I could not but be an advocate of peace and implore everyone to love one another and avoid violence at all cost.

I strongly advise everyone to promote peaceful coexistence amongst ourselves. Peace, love and harmony should be our watchword. An environment devoid of violence will lead to steady economic growth and development.

We all have to give the gift of love to one another. We have to let it sit in our hearts and fully enjoy it. The gift of love is like a flowing river, the more you give, the more you get.

Every life is a story, thank you all for being part of my story.
