Partnership With SafeEnviro Will Build Change Agents For Sustainable Environment-LAWMA MD


The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) Knowledge Hub Academy, has entered into a partnership with SafeEnviro, an environmental consulting firm.

It has also become a business partner of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), to implement professional certification courses in waste and resource management.

According to a statement by the MD/CEO of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, the partnership which was approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is in recognition of the need for a robust education system to manage and utilise waste more effectively, as well as usher in diverse opportunities in the waste management chain.

“It is gratifying for the Agency to have this partnership at this time, to open up investment opportunities and wealth creation in waste management and add value to the waste management sector of Lagos State.

“This partnership will instill the best practice in waste management, ultimately bringing forth a cleaner environment that will guarantee good health and promote environmental sustainability,” the statement said.

Odumboni further stated that the collaboration between LAWMA Academy and SafeEnviro UK will help build change agents for a sustainable environment.

To meet the need for quality education in waste management practices, laws and regulations, the LAWMA Academy was launched on the 15th of September 2020.

The first of its kind in Nigeria (and in West Africa), the Academy serves as a centre of expertise in the development and implementation of sustainable waste management solutions.

The partnership with SafeEnviro was forged to strengthen the offering further, drawing upon their considerable resource of expertise and experience.

Extending support as consultants, SafeEnviro will work closely with LAWMA to improve waste practices, help execute projects effectively as well as provide industry expertise and facilities.

LAWMA has continuesd to set standards for waste management in Nigeria as a role model for the other states.
