The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), has launched a 2021-2025 strategic plan to improve its performance ahead of the forthcoming local government election.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Commission, Mr Tope Ojo.
According to him, the Plan is designed as a blueprint and a master-plan which will guide the day-to-day running of the Commission, the administration and management of elections into the Local Government Areas/Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State.
He added that the Five-Year Plan highlights the organizational structures, processes, key programmes and activities that would enable the Commission to achieve its mandate of conducting free, fair and credible elections at all levels of the State.
In her address, the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips (rtd) reiterated the continued determination of the Commission to redefine and transform her responsibilities by adopting reforms depending on the demand of the times.
“It would also ensure that evidence-based policy making and plan-based election management reforms are more systematic, effective and result-oriented,” she said.
The electoral body will be conducting elections into the 20 local governments and 37 LCDAs in the state on July 24th.
