The administration of Osun Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has been lauded for his Investment and Sustenance of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES), an initiative that results in paradigm of self-sustainable and human capital development.
The Commissioner, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr. Olayemi Lawal, made the commendation at the graduation of some of the OYES cadets and non-OYES cadets who benefitted in the Exit Programs Trainings such as, the one-year training in Ijinle OYES Plus (Fashion Entrepreneurship project) and ACME Laundry Training across 12 Local Governments in the State.
Lawal who described the trend at which Osun Youths are empowered through the OYES as highly commendable, despite that the economic situation needs intervention, gave the accolade at the weekend during the Graduation Ceremony of the OYES trainees held at the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme Headquarter, Osogbo.
The commissioner who was represented at the Graduation Ceremony by the Coordinating Director, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Agunlejika, said getting a white collar job is not easy.
He stated that in all honesty, it is clear beyond a reasonable doubt that governments cannot provide job for all the applicants, based on the increasing number of graduates yearly, adding that the new paradigm of self and sustainable employment is key to the present-day personal survival.
According to him, the present administration discovered that Osun Youths are talented hence, Entrepreneurship being the beginning of many good things to come in the Oyetola Government.
He added that the present Government in the state is not interested in youth roaming the streets, or in youths who are unable to make an impact but interested in the youths that will make an impact in the nation as well as open new avenues for development.
He said, “When youths are able to become a producer of basic amenities, that means they are youths who won’t beg for money to feed in the future”. He appealed to the OYES cadets to make use of the golden opportunity of the Exit Program Training of the Government, and he also added that it is high time for everyone to have economic survival skills through empowerment, based on the dynamic nature of the world hence a person must be skilled and become empowered morally, physically and financially.”
Earlier in his speech, the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme OYES Commandanté, Colonel EniIbukun Oyewole (rtd), appreciated Governor Gboyega Oyetola for his continuous support of the OYES which results into positive effect in sectors of the State through the OYES Exit Programs Trainings for Empowerment and Engagement.
The OYES Commandanté emphasized to the OYES and non-OYES cadets beneficiaries of Ijinle OYES Plus and ACME Laundry on the ethics of professionalism, the essentials of Multiple Sources of Income (MSI), and *payment of tax* which is part of their civic responsibility to the Government, emphasized also about their personal needs and urged them to upgrade their skills and treat their customers as kings.
Commandanté Oyewole who said this is the Second Batch of the Ijinle OYES Entrepreneurship Program, said non-OYES cadets were considered as beneficiaries, as part of their corporate responsibilities to the society in their human capital development skill programs, added that the location was spread across the Local Governments to allow uniform developments.
Also in their welcome addresses, the coordinators of Ijinle OYES Plus and ACME Laundry, Miss Adenike Ibrahim and Mr Dhikrullahi Olanipekun respectively thanked Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for not neglecting Osun Youths.
The duo appreciated OYES Headquarter for its commendable activities aimed at ensuring that the cadets emerge successful in their various beats and urged the youths in the State to complement the effort of the Government by being consistent in the discharge of the services through skill learned to take care of their self, as well as perform their obligation as citizens of the State of Osun.
The Ijinle OYES Plus Fashion Entrepreneurship Programme is a Fashion Training in the Production of Vintage Yoruba pieces like the traditional Agbada, Kembe, Agadasi, and Dansiki among others into Modern Styles, while the ACME Laundry Training is for training in laundry services and maintaining good personal relationships.
