In a calculated effort targeted at contributing through an innovative approach to the educational reforms in waste management sector, the management of the Lagos State Waste Management Agency,l (LAWMA) Academy has commenced its summer school for pupils in primary school.
First of its kind, the LAWMA Academy summer school commenced on Monday, 9th August, 2021.
Welcoming the pupils to their first day in school, the MD/CEO of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni while expressing his satisfaction at the turn-out of pupils, said the summer school has been put together to groom the young ones in imbibing a positive mindset and outlook on environmental issues.
Mr. Odumboni stressed the need to ‘catch them young’ in order for them to understand their environment and the act of proper waste management.
The MD noted that it was very important to creatively engage the coming generation for them to cultivate the right attitude towards waste management.
“I am excited to welcome you all to this summer class. This is a dream come through not just for me but to the management of LAWMA.
“I am very confident that at the end of the month, you would have learnt a lot and there is a lot of fun activities lined up for you,” he said.
According to the Principal of the Academy, Mrs. Elizabeth Ademola, the school is expected to run for the duration of the ongoing school holiday.
Also, provisions were made for online students who cannot make it to the Ijora Olopa headquarters of the agency where the academy is located.
