The lawmaker, representing Kosofe constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly , Hon. Femi Saheed, has launched two free buses for students’ use and gave 561 constituents cash grant for the growth of their businesses.
Saheed also sank six boreholes in the constituency for the provisions of portable water for the people.
The event which took place at the newly built Agboyi-Ketu Arcade on Thursday had in attendance Speaker of the House, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Lagos, traditional rulers, community leaders, religious groups among others.
While addressing the attendees, Saheed said that the knowledge and experience acquired so far from his relationship with past party state chairmen coupled with the mentorship of Obasa had made him to understand how to sustain constituency relations.
The lawmaker explained that he was lucky to be under the tutelage of the Speaker and that he has impacted so much in him.
“I want to tell you that more empowerment is coming on board. This is just a start. Initially, we wanted to give cash grant to 250 but later decided to make it 561,” he said.
While appreciating the lawmaker, the leader of APC in Kosofe, Chief Steven Oyedele, said the empowerment was historic and that it was all encompassing.
Oyedele described the lawmaker as a ‘long time party man’ who is not only making his constituents proud but also the party.
Obasa, counselled the constituents on the benefits of re-electing experienced legislators, saying that it was always hard for new comers to influence dividends of democracy to their constituencies.
The Speaker said the more a lawmaker is voted into the legislature, the more he would be able to make demands for his people, adding that legislative business is a serious aspect of governance.
The Speaker went on to commission the two buses.
