Lawmaker Urges Constituents To Vacate Flood Prone Areas

The Deputy Leader, Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. John Bello Olanrewaju, representing Lanwa/Ejidogari Constituency, has urged people living in flood-prone areas to vacate their homes to avoid lost of lives and properties.

Lanwa/Ejidogari Constituency spread across Moro, Edu and Patigi local government areas of the state.

Olanrewaju made the call while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin, noting that the call was necessitated by the need to save lives and property as there is the likelihood of heavy rainfall this year.

He commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his immense contribution to the development of the state as well as his assistance to the Assembly in ensuring that members develop their various constituencies.

The Deputy House leader said that he has been able to provide 28 motorized boreholes, two hand-powered boreholes in his constituency which has addressed the challenge of portable water in the affected areas.

He added that he has also been able to address electricity challenges by fixing over seven transformers.

The native of Jebba lauded the governor for responding to the plight of flood victims as well as victims of an inferno in Jebba last year.

According to him, the governor gave the fire victims over N31million to rebuild their homes and start a new life.

He, however, called on the state government to pay attention to Oke-Oyi and Okuta Ala axis, which has dilapidated bridges and culverts so that the people of the area can enjoy good road network.
