The Chairman, Oyo State Sports Council, Honourable Gbenga Adewusi has said the Lekan Salami Sports Complex Adamasingba, Ibadan under massive renovation will soon begin to host and promote international tournaments and sports activities after its completion.
Hon. Adewusi gave the assurance in a chat with journalists in Ibadan while speaking on the plans of the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde to make the sports complex meet international standard.
According to him, the sports complex was moribund and in bad shape when he took over as the chairman of the council, adding that the state governor is doing a lot to put it in a proper shape.
“Efforts are on by Governor Seyi Makinde to make the sports complex which has long been moribund meet international standard, such that it will host and promote International sports activities in the state.
“I met the sports council as a ghost place when I came in July 2020 as chairman of the council, but with efforts of the governor, the stadium has turned to a new place.
“At least 75 per cent of work has been done in the stadium. The main bowl can accommodate international sports activities after completion and it will also boost the Internal Generated Revenue of the sports council,” he said.
Hon. Adewusi fondly addressed as Arole assured that between July and August this year,the stadium would be ready, saying, that they can take international tournament as well as night matches.
