Chairman Yewa North Local Government, Hon Rasaq Adeagbo has warned residents of the council against reckless bush burning, to avert preventable disaster in the area.
Adeagbo who gave this warning while fielding questions from newsmen in his office at Ayetoro, said that reckless bush burning, especially at this dry season could lead to fire out break and resulted to lose of lives and property.
“As the Farmers are clearing bushes for the next farming season, i want to enjoin them to do it with caution, to prevent fire outbreak that could lead to lose of lives and property,” he stated.
The council boss decried the menace of indiscriminate and destructive grazing of farmlands by herdsmen, saying it had culminated into the destruction of food crops, making it difficult for farmers to fulfil their civic obligations.
He called for a decisive action from all level of governments to address the ugly trend to forestall breakdown of law and order in the area, assuring that the council would continue to monitor the collection of taxes and other levies, as tax evasion would no longer be tolerated in the year.
