Tragedy struck early this week at a prayer mountain under the control of Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C) Oke-lgan along ldanre road, Akure, Ondo State Capital when a lightning struck a Pastor and he died instantly.
The deceased, Pastor Tunde Peter, who was residing on Temitope Street, Oke-Aro, Akure was reported to have come to pray on the top of the mountain when lightning struck and killed him on the mountain around 6 pm on that fateful day.
It was revealed that the incident occurred while it was raining. Pastor Peter was on the mountain praying when lightning struck and killed.him.
According to the police’s First Information Report, the deceased’s corpse was said to have been evacuated by his family. His remains were buried in line with Yoruba tradition.
The police report, obtained by WESTERN POST, revealed that on Monday at about 11.30 am, one Pastor J.F Agene and two others of the church came to report the incident at the police station that one Pastor Tunde Peter of Temitope Street, Oke -Aro , Akure came to pray on the top of a mountain, which is under their control situated along ldanre road , Akure at about 6 pm on Sunday while it was raining.
The report further added that in the process, lightning struck the man and he died instantly
Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident to WESTERN POST. explaining that the complainant further stated that the wife of the deceased was contacted on phone who in turn contacted the deceased family that came to evacuate the corpse for burial according to Yoruba tradition.
He hinted that the area where the incident occurred remains calm and desolate as the inhabitants are still asking the questions-why and how?.
