Just like it threw out the petition filed against the election of Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, the state’s Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja has also dismissed the petition filed by former governor of the state and Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the election, Captain Idris Wada.
Wada had sought to nullify the election that brought Bello to office, saying with the death of Alhaji Abubakar Audu, the All Progressives Congress candidate, on the eve of the declaration of election results, he ought to be announced as governor.
The tribunal dismissed Wada’s petition, saying he lacked locus standi since he was not a member of the APC and did not participate in the party’s primaries.
On Monday, the Tribunal had dismissed a similar petition brought against Bello by Hon. James Faleke.
Faleke, the running mate to the initial candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the election, late Abubakar Audu, had sought the order of the court to declare him as the party’s candidate for the election.
Bello came into office on the platform of the APC.
