The Kwara state police command has paraded 144 suspects arrested by joint security agencies in connection with last Friday looting of government warehouses and private business outfits in Ilorin.

The state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun who paraded the suspects on Monday before newsmen at the state’s police headquarters, Ilorin also showed several items recovered from them.
The Commissioner acknowledged that the arrested looters were the efforts of the joint security agencies involving operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Police, Nigeria Army, Air force and Department of State Security Services (DSS).

He said some of the looters have also voluntarily surrendered the looted items in their possession.
“We also have cases of some individuals who have willingly surrendered their items. Those who surrendered their looted items will not be paraded before the press”, he said.
The police commissioner urged members of the public to assist security agencies with useful information that could lead to the arrest of looters on the run.
