The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Ondo State chapter has called on the state government to make the working environment conducive and provide the required equipment for effective treatment of patients.
The call was made on Thursday in Akure, during the association’s annual week-long event to celebrate doctors nationwide.
In her address, the state Chairman of the association, Dr (Mrs.) Stella Adegbehingbe said that the exodus of medical personnel from the state is far becoming alarming and that the needful should be done.
“The year has been filled with challenges and crises in the health sector in the state over the percentage payment of salaries which has resulted to the exodus of health personnel, ” she said.
According to her, efforts must be intensified on the issue of security so as to have a balanced mind before, during, and after working hours.
Adegbehingbe noted that the state government should consider massive employment of health personnel for secondary and tertiary institutions across the state.
Meanwhile, the association had earlier visited the orphanage home along federal housing estate, Shagari where food items and toiletries were donated.
The medical personnel also visited the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo where the 250 bedded facility being erected by the state government was commended.
