Facebook fraudster, Abubakar Isiaku A.K.A Hajia Fatima, has been sentenced to one year imprisonment by Justice Muhammad Yahaya of Kano State High Court, on Monday, February 19, 2018 .
Isiaku was sentenced on a one count charge for the offence of Obtaining by False Pretence brought against him by the Kaduna Zonal Office of EFCC.
The convict’s journey to jail started when he choose to pretend to be a woman in a bid to extort money from unwary Facebook users.
Isiaku fooled the plaintiff into believing he is a woman. This led into them becoming chummy to the point where the accused was daring enough to make a demand of N1.5 million.
In the course of prosecution, the convict pled not guilty, as against pleading guilty at the onset. Isiaku was arriagned on 18th December, 2017. The Jugde has ordered the convict to pay the sum of N1.5 million to the nominal complainant as restitution.
