*Local hunter shoots himself

A middle-aged man, Opeyemi Ogundele, has been electrocuted while attempting to illegally re-connect a disconnected electricity line in Ilesa.
The deceased, said to be an electrician, it was gathered, was contracted by the occupants of a house located at Oke Ayo, Ilesa, to re-connect an electricity wire disconnected by the staff of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) over unpaid electricity bills.
According to eye witnesses, the deceased was given N1,500 for the job, out of which he hired a ladder for N200 and proceeded to the house. A resident of the neighbourhood, who pleaded anonymity, further explained:
“We all helped him put the ladder on the pole in front of the house. No one ever imagined that, that bizzare fate awaited him. As he climbed the ladder, the deceased mistakenly handled live wire on the electric pole and got electrocuted instantly.”
Sources near no J11, Oke-Ayo Street, where the incident happened, said immediately the man fell off the pole, all occupants of house ran away for fear of being arrested by the police. Policemen in Ilesa, it was gathered, who were contacted, removed and deposited the remains of the deceased at the Wesley Guild Hospital morgue.
Commenting on the development, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun Command, Folasade Odoro, DSP, confirmed the incident, assuring that the police would get to the root of the matter.
In a related development, a young man, simply identified as Bolaji, accidentally shot himself with his dane gun at Itagunmodi in Atakumosa-West Local Government Council of Osun State.
Bolaji, a local hunter, was trying to shoot at bush rat when his dane gun exploded at the firing point and hit him in the abdomen in the process sustaining severe injuries.
